- Remember this website and bookmark it for future use. "mrkwon.yolasite.com".
- There are "4 Different Classes" (look at the top menu bar) on this online classroom support - Algebra I, Algebra II, Precalculus, and AP Calculus. "Algebra II" can be regarded as "SAT 1 (Math) and SAT2 Math Prep" class.
- yolasite.com has a limited interaction capabilities between teacher and students so I might create another online classroom support at edmodo.com. Online classroom support at edmodo.com is "Invitation only classroom support" and it is better for Interactive Learning.
- SBE (California State Board of Education) developed "Mathematics Content Standars" for each math class (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II). In short, I will use "Math Standars" for "Mathematics Content Standars". Math Standards are nothing but the topics of mathematics that you need to learn and they are numbered from 1.0 to 25.0 (for Algebra I). This means that there are 25 important topics for Algebra I according to SBE. You can think this as the chapter number or topic number. I like this numbering better than the chapter number of the textbook we use so I will use Math Standards Numbering as my lesson number for each math class (Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II).
- According to SBE, there are 25 Math Standards for Algebra I, 22 Math Standards for Geometry, and 28 Math Standards for Algebra II. Aligning with California Math Standards, I created 25 lessons for Algebra I, 22 lessons for Geometry, and 28 lessons for Algebra II. (example: My lesson #1 is matched with Math Standards 1.0.)
- I named each lesson with the most important key word (example: Solve Equation) so that you know what we are learning about. Based on the frequency and importance from previous California State Tests (CST = California Standards Test or STAR = Standardized Testing And Reporting), I rated each lesson with STAR (1 to 5; * to *****). I hope you focus on those lessons with higher STAR first.
- There are 3 Types of Problems (Examples) that I defined in this online classroom.
- Type A: Hard Problems (Type A+: Advanced Level) - Excellent Students can solve this
- Type B: Average Problems (Proficient Level ) - Good Students can solve this
- Type C: Easy Problems (Basic Level - Minimum you have to know) - Many students can solve this
- There is some limitation to write mathematical symbols or notations (such as exponents, fraction, square root) on this website to explain something so I will use following notations:
- Exponent = ^ --> 2^3 means 2 cubed.
- Square root = sqrt --> sqrt(16) means square root of 16.
- Fraction = / --> 3/5 means 3 over 5.
- Multiply = * --> 4x*5x means 4x multiply by 5x
- If you plan to go to 4 year University, then you must use this website wisely and get full benefits. Math is the Foundation for Science Major, Engineering Major, Business Major in college. The better you do in Math, the more opportunities you will have in the future.
- My life lesson is to remember "Slow but Steady Wins the Race".
- There are 3 ingredients in the Good Life : Learning, Earning and Yearning.
- A teacher is one who makes himself progressively unnecessary. -Thomas Carruthers
- I am doing my best to summarize each lesson in a very concise and simple way. Each lesson was created based on my Powerpoint lecture slides, tests that I made, released state tests (CST, CAHSEE, other states from www.triand.com), and internet free sources. To maximize the internet benefits, I included many online lectures by other teachers from YouTube.com.
- I really hope that some of you find this website useful and helpful. Learning by yourself is not easy. Learning online is not easy. You can learn the best from the teacher in classroom but this online learning can be supplementary to the classroom learning for those who want to learn more. If you have any question or suggestion or if you find any typo on this webiste, then feel free to send me message by clicking "Ask Mr. K" on the top menu. Good luck! - Mr. Kwon -
